About MWARS
Born from the community. Built for the community.
Muddy Water Addiction Recovery Services was founded by people who understand the journey — because we've lived it.
Our Story
Muddy Water Addiction Recovery Services (MWARS) was founded on a simple but powerful belief: that every person, regardless of their past, deserves a real chance at recovery and a meaningful life in the community.
Our name reflects the reality many of our clients face — life can feel murky, uncertain, and overwhelming. But muddy water, given time and the right conditions, can run clear again. That transformation is at the heart of everything we do.
We work specifically with justice-involved individuals — people who have been touched by the criminal legal system — because we know that the intersection of addiction and incarceration creates unique barriers that require specialized, compassionate support. We meet people where they are, without judgment, and walk alongside them every step of the way.
Our Mission
To empower justice-involved individuals to achieve lasting recovery, successful reentry, and full participation in community life — through compassionate services, peer support, and advocacy.
Our Vision
A community where every person has the opportunity to recover, rebuild, and thrive — free from the barriers of addiction and the stigma of incarceration.
Our Values
These principles guide every decision we make and every interaction we have.
Dignity
We treat every person with unconditional respect, recognizing their inherent worth regardless of their history or circumstances.
Hope
We believe recovery is possible for everyone. We hold hope for our clients even when they struggle to hold it for themselves.
Empowerment
We build on strengths, not deficits. Our goal is to equip people with the tools and confidence to lead their own recovery.
Community
Healing happens in relationship. We foster connection — between individuals, families, and the broader community.
Justice
We advocate for systems change and work to dismantle the barriers that keep people trapped in cycles of addiction and incarceration.
Accountability
We hold ourselves to the highest standards of integrity, transparency, and effectiveness in everything we do.
